A whole lotta adventure - #ShareTheBay

  • 29 June 2016 | By Anje Rautenbach

A few months ago we had a “a whole lotta summer” but now, as we enjoy hot drinks, warm soups and an extra blanket or two, it is time for “a whole lotta adventure” in Nelson Mandela Bay!

#ShareTheBay…even in Winter!

The concept #ShareTheBay (which saw the light in Summer of 2015) encourages locals and visitors to share their Bay experiences on social media (Twitter and Instagram) under the #ShareTheBay and #MyNelsonMandelaBay hashtags. On Instagram alone, we are only a few photos shy of 3 000 beautiful photos of the Bay - my Bay, your Bay, our Bay – all through the eyes of those who love, experience, enjoy and are proud of their Nelson Mandela Bay.

We can’t think of a better way to snuggle up to the cold than with another epic #ShareTheBay competition where there are prizes up for grabs; prizes big, small, unique and filled with adventure!

The competition starts on the 1st of July and it is as easy as snap, crackle, pop or rather snap, share and win:

Step 1: Have a whole lotta adventure.

Step 2:  Take a photo.

Step 3: Upload your photo to Twitter and/or Instagram.

Step 4: Use the #ShareTheBay and #MyNelsonMandelaBay hashtags.

Step 5: Have some more adventures while you are waiting to see if you are a weekly or monthly winner.

Have a look at some of the amazing prizes up for grabs – from boat trips to quad bike adventures  - and familiarise yourself with the competition rules, terms and conditions.

#ShareTheBay, share the beauty

We’ve seen (and heard) time and again – through photos, videos, museums and storytellers  - that the Bay is rather a unique place; that Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage, Despatch and the surrounding areas got a whole lot of summer, a whole lotta winter, a whole lotta adventure and a whole lotta everything to offer for young and old, for the active, the arty and the daring.

Just in case you need a quick recap of what the whole lotta everything is, meditate on this: Elephants, mountains, dunes, blue flag beaches, dolphins, museums, penguins, lions, a great selection of restaurants, diving, art, rivers, hiking trails, heritage sites, culture, modern malls, tradition, ice skating, wildlife, marine life, the big five, the big seven, golf courses, casino, adrenalin activities and it is still not even half of the whole lotta everything.

Have a look at some of the #ShareTheBay photos on Instagram and start uploading your own photos. The competition starts the 1st of July 2016, what are you waiting for?
