There are just over two weeks left before our what is your idea of freedom competition closes. To celebrate 20 years of democracy in South Africa, Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism is giving you a chance to experience our amazing destination, where much of South Africa's freedom story took place.

To stand a chance of winning, all you have to do is to tell us what your idea of freedom is.

The winner will receive:

  • Two domestic flights to Port Elizabeth
  • Two nights' accommodation in Nelson Mandela Bay
  • Two Nelson Mandela Bay Passes
  • Two nights' accommodation at Addo Elephant National Park
  • Five days' car rental

The competition closes at noon on 9 June, 2014.

Here is what some of our entrants have had to say:

Akhona Mti, Gauteng

"Freedom is the ability to be free from everything and free to make your own choices, freedom means being able to interact with other ethnic groups, where black and white can be seen as one. Freedom can be expressed through Art, Music and Poetry. Freedom is one of the greatest gifts which any country cherishes."

Lucinda Roberts, Eastern Cape

"Not needing anything from anyone, being totally independent, freedom is never free, you have to work for it."

Shaneel Habbet, Western Cape

"Freedom is dating who I want to date, going where I want to go, befriending who I want to befriend, loving who I want to love. Freedom is playing in any beautiful sea, exploring all that's for you and me, laughing when I'm happy. Freedom is the ability to say what I want to say, doing what I want to do, being who I want to be. Freedom is mine, freedom is yours, freedom is ours. I am glad to be free."

Cindy Botha, Limpopo

"Freedom to me is just the simple things in life ... The freedom to choose and express my own religion. The freedom to say what I feel and think. The freedom to express myself any which way I choose. The privilege to just have freedom ... Many people overlook the small freedoms we have in life ... not me ... I focus on the smaller things to appreciate the bigger things!"

Sandhia Gounden, KwaZulu-Natal

"My idea of freedom is living in a vibrant and beautiful country where people have equal rights and there is no racism and crime."
