5 PLACES TO SATE YOUR SWEET TOOTH THIS SUMMER

  • 13 December 2017 | By Kerryn Botha

The festive season is just about upon us and most of us tend to let our hair down just a little - say goodbye diet and hello holiday! But finding scrumptious goodies that are worth the extra calories and imminent extra gym sessions come New Year, well that’s worth investigating. Without further ado, I give you five scrumptious spots to sate your sweet tooth this festive season.

Savages Fine Food

The stunning backdrop of the Savages garden and Victorian style interior make Savages a firm favourite for a summer afternoon tea in the Bay. They make some delectable sweet treats. You may want to take along a couple of friends who don’t mind sharing. Choosing just one pastry is next to impossible.

Bocadillos

When visiting Bocadillos, one does not simply ask for the bill without having had dessert. With one of the widest varieties of cakes and sweet treats, you are bound to find something for everyone. Bocadillos are also notoriously consistent. When you find a favourite, you can rest assured that it will be just as good every time. That being said, be sure to explore their wide variety, after all variety is the spice of life.

Muse

Muse offers some of the most incredible desserts in the Bay. They aren’t afraid to push benchmarks and the result is something truly spectacular. If you’re a foodie and haven’t paid them a visit yet, you’re missing out! Aside from the desserts, Muse runs a monthly high tea that is truly spectacular. The next one is a Christmas themed high tea on the 16th of December. For more details, see their Facebook page. It’s certainly not one to miss.

Como Caffé

Como Caffé is a New York themed coffee shop and deli in the heart of Port Elizabeth that offer a host of scrumptious pastries. What’s better is the variety seems to be constantly growing and changing. They also offer a weekday coffee and cake special that runs between 3pm – 5pm for just R39. Now that’s the cheapest airfare I’ve seen. Pop past and see and taste a little bit of the Big Apple.

Suikerbossie

What’s the festive season without a little road trip? Suikerbossie is just outside of Jeffreys Bay, about an hour out of Nelson Mandela Bay, you’ll find this little gem. Indulge in some scrumptious pancakes. They offer both sweet and savoury pancakes. The sweet pancakes range from the traditional cinnamon, sugar and lemon to the ridiculously sweet that are bound to have you reliving some of your fondest childhood memories. The quirky little store has so many little touches that add to a truly memorable experience.
