Baakens Food Truck Friday is in the Bay

  • 16 November 2016 | By Anje Rautenbach

Fridays just got a whole lotta more interesting in the Bay thanks to the first ever Baakens Food Truck Friday that will tantalise Nelson Mandela Bay’s taste buds on 18 November 2016 from 4pm until 9pm.

The Baakens Food Truck Friday – which will take place every third Friday of the month – is a family-orientated event with free entry, and delicious meals at a cost of R45 or less.

But food is not all you will get.

Kids can enjoy the PeddleKarts and face painting and there will also be live music, a few local acts, henna body tattoos, and alcohol will be available from Fratelli Foods and the Baakens Valley Brewery, so don’t forget to bring your own picnic blankets or camping chairs.

This community-driven event – organised by Jan du Plessis of WERK_ and Grant Foong of Foong’s Asian Street Food - will see a dozen food trucks, tuk-tuks and trailers showcase their unique offerings in the heart of Nelson Mandela Bay; from artisanal pizzas, to gourmet burgers, sweet treats, vegetarian meals and Asian cuisine, patrons are in for a taste sensation.

Chantal Bezuidenhout, social media marketer at Social Media Shakeup, said:

"I believe in connecting people and what better way to connect than at the first Baakens Food Truck Friday - food and fun for the whole family!"
