It's been three weeks since the crowds pulled in to The Athenaeum at Belmont Terrace for the launch of the Share The Bay through your lens photography exhibition in Nelson Mandela Bay. During this month - while we celebrate tourism and our rich South African heritage - countless of feet have strolled around the photos our local Instagrammers and photographers took which tell the stories of our people, city, heritage, architecture and the beauty of our natural environment in and around the Bay.

If you haven't had a peek yet, make your way to the top floor of The Athenaeum and experience your city through the eyes of our local talent; the large canvas prints which are on display are also up for sale. But that's not all. There is also a good chance that your photo is part of the exhibition and you are encouraged to view the hundreds of other smaller prints which fill the exhibition room with the Bay's heartbeat from floor to ceiling, look for your Instagram photo and tag it with the stickers provided.

By purchasing a piece of art you will help Umzobo Wam. Umzobo Wam is the official beneficiary for the Tourism Month photography exhibition and it is an initiative in the Bay which provides children with a means to self-expression through art and photography. Their current project focuses on the township of Gqebera (Walmer) and the program provides a safe space for children to engage in art and educational games, as well as receive help with their homework.

Photos and canvases are affordably priced to give everyone in the Bay an opportunity to own a piece of art while contributing and helping Umzobo Wam. The A1 Canvas is R499, an A2 is R329 and a A5 photo print is R20.
