Port Elizabeth, the Friendly City, hosts a variety of events throughout the year. Make sure to diarise these ones: 

Splash Festival

Almost approaching its 25th anniversary, the Splash Festival is annually met with enthusiasm and excitement by locals and visitors. The three-day festival is jam-packed with local entertainers, Easter egg hunts, beach volleyball, boat racing and all-round fun things to do with the family.

The event takes place around the Easter holidays.

IRONMAN South Africa

IRONMAN South Africa sees thousands of endurance sport enthusiasts migrating to Hobie Beach, where they are challenged by a 3.8km sea swim course, a 180.2km bicycle ride and a 42.2km marathon – all in less than 17 hours. Do you think you have what it takes to complete the only such event in Africa? Read this six-month basic training programme if you are thinking about entering the race.

This year it was held on 5 and 6 April.

The Port Elizabeth Muck Run

With the motto “Come as you are and get as dirty as you like”, fun is definitely the name of the game. This 5km fun run offers a muddy bush obstacle course, and also available is a 2km kids’ version. Prepare for dodgy bush terrain, teamwork and all-round entertainment.

Petrolhead Paradise Moto Show

The name is a dead giveaway for what’s in store at the moto show. Typical of any grand motor lifestyle show, visitors are taken to automotive heaven with a range of vintage and high-end cars and bikes on show.

The Rhino Run Port Elizabeth

First hosted last year at Crossways Farm Village, the Rhino Run is not only a way to take a stand against rhino poaching, but also a great way to get away from city life and experience amazing trail runs. You can choose between the 6km, 12km and 22km trail run.

The Herald First Choice Kids & Baby Expo
