#ShareTheBay Campaign in Full Swing

As temperatures continue to rise, and as Summer activities abound throughout Nelson Mandela Bay, social media is abuzz with hundreds of images being shared by residents and visitors of the city. Over 600 images have already been shared on Instagram alone, using the hashtags #ShareTheBay and #MyNelsonMandelaBay.

Residents and visitors of the city are sharing their day-to-day Summer experiences. From taking time out just to relax on a bench in Central, Port Elizabeth, to zip lining in Addo; from taking an early morning stroll on the beachfront in Summerstrand, to deep-sea diving off the coast of Cape Recife; from shooting hoops at the basketball court on King’s Beach, to enjoying the vibe at various music festivals around the Bay – in all of these images, people of all ages have come together to express their pride and love for this city.

Part of the #ShareTheBay campaign includes a competition. The best images being shared are featured daily on the Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism social media pages, and 4 individuals have been specially recognised for sharing the most outstanding images.

Travel blogger Anje Rauntenbach won 2 nights for 2 at Summerstrand Hotel, as well as 2 Nelson Mandela Bay Pass cards. NMMU journalism student Shawn Marsh won a night for 2 at both Singa Lodge and Ibhayi Lodge, as well as 2 Nelson Mandela Bay Pass cards.

Participants at the December 2015 Instameet, organised by Igers Port Elizabeth, entered a competition of their own. Abongile Ngalonkulu won a night for 2 and dinner for 2 at The Kelway Hotel, and Kate du Toit won 2 Nelson Mandela Bay Pass cards.

There are a few more prizes up for grabs. All residents and visitors of the Bay are encouraged to keep on sharing their images throughout the Summer season.
