New activities launched as Pine Lodge turns 25
Pine Lodge Resort has been one of Port Elizabeth's prime beach resorts for as long as it has been in existence. This year Pine Lodge turned 25 and did so with a bang as it launched its new River Spa and Base Camp Adventure Centre, both situated at the resort.
Pine Lodge is the perfectly located at the Cape Recife Nature Reserve, close to the beach and city, and offers various types of accommodation which include luxury chalets, cabins and caravan and camping grounds. Apart from the various activities around the area such as the Cape Recife Nature Reserve and SAMREC, Pine Lodge now offers some exciting new activities that is for both residents at the resort or for visitors from outside.
Base Camp Adventures offers various experiences that will keep you active and that will most certainly get the blood pumping.
The High Ropes Experience includes ziplines across the coastal fynbos, and if time (or your nerves) allows, you can take on the climbing wall and middle ropes course. The experience includes a bottle of water and a beer or soft drink afterwards to calm the nerves.
For those who like cycling you have to try the Fatbike Beach Tours. These specifically designed fat-tyre mountain bikes allow you to explore the beauty of the Cape Recife Nature Reserve and beach. The tours are led by informed guides and includes helmets, bottled water and that important beer/softdrink around the pool afterwards.
Not one for bikes you can still experience the beach and reserve on a Guided Walk of the Roseate Tern Trail which takes you past the bird hide and old fort with an option to include a tour of the lighthouse and/or SAMREC. Again the tour is guided and includes a bottle of water and drink at the pool afterwards.
The Donkey Cart Tours allows you to explore the area without having to do too much as the very unique donkey cart, led by locally rescued donkeys, will take you there.
If unwinding at the pool afterwards with a drink does not relax you enough, there is always the option of a full body massage or various other treatments to choose from at the new River Spa at Pine Lodge.
Other activities on offer at the reserve include a Putt-Putt course, Pirate Cove Play Area and Entertainment Centre for the kids, and a newly installed multipurpose astro turf field where you can enjoy a variety of sports such as 5 a side soccer, cricket and volleyball.
More than enough reasons to visit Port Elizabeth! Happy Birthday Pine Lodge!
