Six Fun Activities to do at the Roll of a Dice in the Bay
Routine. Routine. Routine. Wake up, work and repeat with just a glimmer of fun and relaxation at the weekend. But even the weekend for so many of us, is stuck in its ways and spent catching up on all the chores and things we didn’t do in the week. So this month, why not throw caution to the wind, roll the dice and let the fun begin...
So many of us know so little about our beautiful city, which is so rich in culture and heritage. If you’ve rolled a one, get your tour booked and get ready to be blown away, by the beauty, the stories and the restoration that’s going on in the bay.
A Walk or Cycle at the Hopewell Conservation Estate
Rolled a two- well then there is nothing quite as humbling as spending some quality time in nature and no better medicine than the body’s very own endorphins. Take a moment to zero yourself, take a deep breath and rid yourself of all your worries and cares and just enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the estate. You may even find yourself lucky enough to spot some of the estate’s wildlife.
A Picnic at Thunzi Bush Lodge
Does the dice say three – well three of life’s greatest joys come together at Thunzi Bush Lodge- love, food and gorgeous scenery. Whether you enjoy this with a friend, your significant other or your entire family, you’re certain to make memories to last a lifetime.
Climb the 204 steps of the Campanile
Rolled a four – some exercise is in store for you. There has been a buzz in the city about the restoration of the Campanile, but have you paid it a visit yet? Once you have, you are sure to be back for another visit. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the art galleries and 23 bells along the way and finally, enjoy the well-deserved view once you’ve reached the top.
Visit the Kragga Kamma Game Park
Dice on five – take a “walk” on the wild side. There is no need to travel very far to experience some of Africa’s finest. Take a drive through the park in your own vehicle or better yet, book a game drive. Sit back and learn from the professionals who will tell you all you need to know about the animals and the area.
Go for a walk or swim at the beach and follow it up with a milkshake or ice cream at Something Good
What, a perfect six? The perfect end to a perfect Bay weekend. Feel like a kid all over again. Any born and bred Port Elizabethan can attest to the childhood memory of going to the beach and enjoying a “cold one” to end the day on an ultimate high, but when last did you do it? No more excuses. You know what to do.
No matter where your impromptu excursion takes you this month, be sure to show us your journey by using the #ShareTheBay. Have fun and make memories.
