St Georges Park Instameet
On Sunday, the 14th of August, people from the Bay gathered with cameras, picnic baskets, bubble wands and colour clouds for yet another Instameet hosted and organised by Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism in collaboration with Colours of You SA.
It was the perfect day for an instaPICmeet in Nelson Mandela Bay; the weather played along, the sun came out and the winter chills and rain clouds disappeared as the Instagrammers, friends, family, pets, enthusiasts, hobby and pro photographers got snapping and clicking all over St Georges Park while the The Oswald Social Club – who focuses on delicious food and beverage deliveries in some areas of Port Elizabeth - fuelled everyone with coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate and tea.
Umzobo Wam
At the Instameet, we were joined by Umzobo Wam – a local non-profit initiative that supports South African children in sharing stories of township life through art and photography. Umzobo Wam will be the beneficiary for the upcoming photo exhibition during Tourism Month.
If you want to know more about Umzobo Wam, what they do and how you can help, visit their website at www.umzobowam.com.
If you are not familiar with the exhibition in September, then listen up because you still have time to share your photos!
Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism, in collaboration with Colours of You SA, invites you to share the Bay through your lens on Instagram and Twitter under the hashtag #ShareTheBay and #ColoursofYouSA. You (and nine other people) stand a chance to be chosen to exhibit your photos during Tourism Month (September) at the Athenaeum in Port Elizabeth.
All you have to do is:
Share your photos, talent and creativity on social media (Twitter and Instagram) and show us your view of Nelson Mandela Bay in terms of our heritage, culture, city, nature and the people of the Bay.
- Upload photos to Instagram or Twitter until the 19th of August.
- Use the hashtags #ShareTheBay and #ColoursofYouSA
The names of the 10 exhibitioners will be announced via the social media platforms of Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism and Colours of You SA on 22 August 2016.
Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism will also choose, print and put up hundreds of other photos from the #ShareTheBay and #ColoursofYouSA hashtags to make you, yes you - the one with a phone in your hand pounding in those hashtags or the one with the camera slung around your neck - part of the exhibition. These prints will also be up for sale and proceeds will go towards Umzobo Wam as well.

But let’s get back to the recent Instameet...
We had it all – good company, good coffee, good food and one excellent (almost) spring day. So we celebrated; we celebrated under the sun, under the trees, with bubbles, giggles, creativity, passion the instafamous “colour clouds” and some more bubbles.
Aperture, zoom, focus.
Snap, click, pop.
Contrast, saturation, ambiance.
Upload, hashtag, like.
Here are some photos from the Instameet at St Georges Park:
Thank you to each and every one who joined us for yet another unforgettable Instameet! See you in September! Remember to tag your photos with #ShareTheBay and #ColoursofYouSA!
